clos-ette case: Laura Geller

Clos-ette’s M.O. is simple: every product we design, every service we offer, and every dream closet we build is all about making life easy-peasy. We are, you might have guessed, major fans of all things quick, user-friendly and effective. Which is precisely why Laura Geller is our go-to girl for “no-brainer beauty” –and why her best-selling (seriously simple) Spackle Primer has been a staple of our makeup routine for as long as we can remember. The QVC dynamo is all about fuss-free, super-wearable, multi-tasking products for those of us who don’t have an hour to beautify each day. Are we surprised she’s garnered a cult-following? Nope. Or that she’s an avowed fan of our superstar hangers? Not at all. Here, Geller chats with us about her love of earrings, good, old-fashioned malls, and a certain Ms. Winfrey’s impeccable style.

How would you describe your personal style?

I would say casual elegance. I like to keep it tasteful but also enjoy feeling comfortable in my clothes.

What do you collect?

Anything Judith Ripka! Her designs are timeless and classic. I love it all. I'm actually wearing some of her items right now. (Clos-ette Tip: Store your favorite baubles in our best-selling Jewelry Case, which has special compartments for all different types of bling.)

We never leave the house without putting on your Spackle first. What item do you never leave the house without?

A pair of earrings. They could be simple studs or something a little more daring.  There’s something about earrings that really light up one’s face.

What’s your ideal shopping day?

Drop me in my favorite mall at King of Prussia and I’m in heaven. I am a mall brat. I enjoy shopping by myself, and stopping during the day to relax and have a cappuccino. With being on-air at QVC, managing my business, and taking care of my son, it’s rare that I have a few minutes (let alone a few hours) for some general “me” time.

What items in your closet do you splurge on?

I love, love, love beautifully tailored jackets. You can see me in them quite often when I am on-air.

What’s the most cherished item in your wardrobe?

Recently, I was honored by the City of Hope at their Spirit of Life luncheon. I had purchased a special jacket for the occasion and now, it’s one of my favorite items in my closet. I will forever cherish it and remember that day.

How do you keep your closet organized?

I must admit, with my crazy schedule it’s a bit hard to stay as organized as I’d like. I try to organize my clothing by color and type. Since I’m always running out the door, doing this allows me to pick up what I need quickly. I currently own the Clos-ette Too Shirt Hangers, which have been a blessing. Many times, the jackets and other items that I have tend to slip off the hangers (sometimes creating a pile), but the fabric on the hangers allows my clothing to stay put.

Whose closet would you like to raid?

I would definitely raid Oprah Winfrey’s closet.  Her style is classic and tailored. She’s always beautifully put-together, and I try to emulate her style. I also would like to have my own show, just as she did, but that's for another conversation.
