Peter Som has built a reputation as a
master of eminently chic, feminine clothing. Need proof? See First Lady
Michelle Obama frequently stepping out in his designs, or check out
his latest
collection (it’s to die for). But when we visited the San Francisco native at
his West Village home, we found that in his own wardrobe, a sort of sporty
simplicity reigns supreme. Classic oxfords are arranged by color, smart
sneakers fill up an orderly cabinet, and a pair of well-loved L.L. Bean boots have
their own nook. And all of these wares are hidden behind custom mirrored doors
off of the Som’s elegant bedroom –proof that Som might also add ‘master of
smart storage’ to his long list of accolades. Here, the designer gives us a
tour.
