clos-ette case: Vaunte.com's Leah Park

Posted on May 24, 2013 by Linley Taber

As the CEO and co-founder of Vaunte, Leah Park raids closets for a living – and gives shoppers the chance to buy the stylish cast-offs of tastemakers across the country. (Our own Melanie Charlton is featured this week). An alumnae of Gilt Groupe and Bergdorf Goodman, Park tells us the site grew out of her own tendency to ‘shop’ her sister Esther’s well-stocked wardrobe. “My sister is the ruthless self-editor so much so that she wouldn’t be caught dead wearing last season anything,” she says. “Which happens to be perfect for me. I barely have time to shop, so my favorite place to shop was in her closet.” Her own magenta-hued closet does not disappoint: the racks and acrylic shelves are packed with sexy, edgy, one-of-a-kind favorites. Here, she gives us a peek inside.

How would you describe your personal style?

What's the word for vintage rocker tees, super tight body-con wares, with either Converse or stilettos?

Who are your go-to designers?

Tom Ford for sexy stilettos, Dolce & Gabbana for sleek silhouettes, and Estherleah, my sister Esther’s custom fashion label, for feminine, chic one-of-a-kind pieces. Nine times out of ten I'm wearing one of her pieces at events or photo shoots, because they are all one-of-a-kind and a cross between our very different styles: flowing, feminine, pretty and plunging lines, sleek, sexy.

What's your favorite fashion memory?

Vespa-ing down NYC streets in a skirt and white leather Alexander Wang jacket with long white fur frill arms flying everywhere – and Mr. Bill Cunningham giving me a thumbs-up!

What would we never find in your closet?

Anything frumpy, poofy, overly girly or too ladylike.

What do you tend to collect or buy in multiples?

Converse low-tops in every color.

What's at the top of your wish list right now?

I'm really into Stella McCartney's new body-con dresses.

Whose closet would you like to raid?

Kate Moss' vintage collectibles and Victoria Beckham's spectaculars of course.
