What’s the best defense against the winter doldrums? According to Atlanta designer and blogger Kelly Ottinger, cheery classics, dynamite accessories, and a few beach-worthy pieces are the cure for the wardrobe ‘blahs’ this time of year. Here, the gal behind Kelly Market (one of our daily destinations for all things chic) shares her January shopping wish-list.
On our retail radar: Byronesque.com, a new fashion site combining a highly-curated collection of vintage pieces with creative editorial. Culled from some of the most renowned vintage stores around the world –including a personal fave, What Goes Around Comes Around –the merchandise skews edgy, dark and subversive. ("We're not for the Chanel bag crowd," says editor-in-chief Gil Linton). With a personal shopper on hand, and truly one-of-a-kind pieces to browse, Byronesque offers a different kind of shopping experience indeed...
What do you covet for your closet? In our new blogger series, we're asking the most stylish gals (and guys!) on the web to tell us what's at the top of their shopping wish-lists. First up: DC-based Lindsay Souza, whose popular blog, The Pursuit of Style, touts the same preppy-cool looks we love ourselves. Here, Lindsay shares her top must-haves for the holiday season.
Ladies (and well-groomed gents), please meet the singularly best, most helpful, and downright genius beauty and fashion book we've ever encountered: How to Look Expensive: A Beauty Editor's Secrets to Getting Gorgeous without Breaking the Bank.

Nanz began manufacturing hardware that was required for high-end restorations but was no longer available. We've built the business around classic product designs that are both beautiful and well-made.

Nanz was already making door hardware, cabinet hardware and bath hardware. We knew closet hardware was a category in which we were interested. It was perfect when my builder friend introduced me to Melanie, the closet authority for high-end designers. Better still when I met this charming dynamo who even made me more excited about the possibilities. Melanie and I had a lot of fun creating the line and were delighted that our clients have been so enthusiastic about our ideas.

Through her experience Melanie had identified some very specific client needs. Our aim was to make the best hardware we could given her goals. The result was convenience provided by a well-designed, coordinated hardware system. We look forward to continuing to meet our clients goals with more great collaborations.

Dear Readers,
I rarely do a personal outreach for a charity, but cancer is something that touches us all. My own father died of colon cancer, and my aunt of breast cancer. In my father’s case, early detection could have saved his life.
This is why I am so passionate about Pin Down Bladder Cancer, a new campaign focused on raising money and awareness for this startlingly underfunded disease. Though bladder cancer is the fourth most-common cancer in men and fifth overall, it gets 10-20 times less funding than the other top five most common cancers. It is also the most expensive cancer to treat on a per-patient basis.
Join me in the fight to raise funds and awareness by purchasing a “Pin Down Bladder Cancer” pin here and wearing it throughout the month of July. All proceeds will support bladder cancer research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering.
Your support can help bring this killer to its knees –and give someone the chance my father never had.
Thank you,
Melanie Charlton Fascitelli
